The City of Vienna has unveiled further details on the transport in the host city during the Eurovision Song Contest week.
The whole city of Vienna will be dressing up for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. Bridges on the Danube river will be illuminated with the ESC colours and decorated specially for the event with banners and flags.
Vienna’s public transport will play a pivotal role in helping visitors to travel throughout the city. Welcome announcements will be heard at the key transport hubs in the city. Trams and train frequency will be increased during the ESC week. Special Eurovision staff and volunteers will be available at the key locations and Eurovision related venues in order to help the fans and visitors.
Rathaus – Eurovision Village, Praterstern – EuroClub and Urban-Loritz-Platz – Eurovision Main Venue will be the key Eurovision hub stations! 550 trams in Vienna will specially dress up for the Eurovision Song Contest with Eurovision themes and banners. The U2 metro line will become the ‘Official Eurovision line’ connecting the key Eurovision hotspots Rathaus, Praterstern and Karlplatz.
Vienna’s public transport system will play a key role in helping Eurovision fans visiting the city being able to get around. Additional signage will provide clear orientation, while major hub stations will feature special announcements such as “Rathaus – Eurovision Village,” “Praterstern – EuroClub,” and “Urban-Loritz-Platz – Eurovision Main Venue”. Welcome announcements will be given in the five languages — German, English, Spanish, Italian and French. And staff in special Eurovision vests will be clearly visible and available for assistance.
Train and tram intervals will be increased during the week, and around 550 trams will be decorated with Eurovision Song Contest banners. The U2 metro line will officially become the official ‘Song Contest Line’, directly connecting key locations such as Rathaus, Praterstern, and Karlsplatz.
Welcome Desks and Tourist Information Points at Albertinaplatz, Vienna Airport, the main train station, two locations at the Stadthalle, and at the Fan House in the Wien Museum will be operating in the host city from 02-17 May.
The 2026 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 12, 14, 16 May at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna, Austria.
