SWR, the German broadcaster, has unveiled the ‘Eurovision Song Contest- Das Deutche Finale 2026 competing acts and further details regarding the German national.
The 2026 German national final is scheduled to be held on Saturday 28th February in Berlin with a total 9 acts battling for the golden ticket to Eurovision 2026. Barbara Schöneberger and Hazel Brugger (Eurovision 2025 co-host) will co-host the competition.
Hazel Brugger says:
Eurovision is when Europe listens and Germany hopes. You know: music and satire know no boundaries, but taste certainly does. I’m looking forward to our first time co-hosting. The fact that I was chosen means I have a huge amount of trust placed in me – or that the organizers couldn’t find anyone else. Eurovision creates a sense of community, a feeling of ‘us,’ even if it’s only when it comes to secondhand embarrassment, but still. If one of the nine acts manages to leave Barbara or me, us two chatterboxes, speechless, they’ll have my utmost respect.
Barbara Schöneberger says:
This year the Eurovision Song Contest turns 70 – 70 years full of glitter, drama, and of course, tons of hits you just have to sing along to! I’m really looking forward to reminiscing about the very best moments, the biggest earworms, and the absolutely craziest outfits during the German national final. After all, Eurovision is also about laughing, a little bit of banter, and enjoying all the little quirks! And the best part: Hazel Brugger is by my side this year. Phew, the burden of finding the perfect act for Vienna has been lifted off my shoulders.
The 2026 German Eurovision entry and act will be determined via a combined international jury/ public voting deliberation. The show will be broadcast live on Das Erste at 20:15 CET.
The German national final will consist of 2 stages:
