TVP, the Polish national broadcaster has released a statement regarding the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest 2026, confirming Poland’s participation in the competition.
In the wake of the latest developments regarding the Eurovision Song Contest and Israel’s participation at the Eurovision Song Contest there has been a heated debate among EBU’s members regarding this matter. The controversy surrounding this issue has led to four countries withdrawing from the competition next year.
TVP and Poland have re- confirmed their participation at ESC 2026 in Vienna. The Polish national broadcaster has stated in the press release believes that that the Eurovision Song Contest still has a chance to once again become a spaced filled with music and that it is aware of the scale of tense surrounding the forthcoming Eurovision edition in Vienna. TVP understands the emotions and concers.
TVP’s official press release reads:
We are aware of the scale of tension surrounding the upcoming edition. We understand the emotions and concerns. However, we believe that Eurovision still has a chance to once again become a space filled with music. And only music. We, like the overwhelming majority of EBU members, offer this opportunity.
The EBU is expecting circa 35 countries to compete at the Eurovision Song Contest in Austria next year, after the withdrawal of four countries: Spain, Slovenia, The Netherlands and Ireland.
Eurovision 2026
So far 34 countries have confirmed their participation at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest 2026, we are yet awaiting for Armenia and Iceland to confirm their participation at ESC 2026. Iceland is expected to make its decision wether it will compete in Vienna or withdraw from the competition on today 10th December.
The EBU has extended the ESC 2026 confirmation deadline for the competing broadcasters until mid December. The official list of the Eurovision 2026 participating countries will be released by the EBU before Christmas.
Poland at Eurovision
Poland debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 with Edyta Gorniak achieving its best results to date, placing 2nd in the competition. Poland has partaken in the contest 27 times.
