BNT, the Bulgarian national broadcaster, has opted for a national selection in order to select the 2026 Bulgarian Eurovision entry and act.
Bulgaria will be back at the Eurovision Song Contest next year after a three year hiatus. The Balkan country will be holding a national selection in determine its Eurovision 2026 act and entry.
BNT has invited 15 artists to partake in the 2026 Bulgarian national selection, which will take place in three stages in January and February. The 2026 Bulgarian Eurovision entry and act will be determined via a combined professional jury- tv audience vote.
BNT’ official press release reads:
The Bulgarian National Television, a member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), is organizing a national selection to choose an artist and song that will represent Bulgaria in the international phase of the Contest.
BNT invites fifteen Bulgarian artists to participate in the selection, among the most broadcast on our radio and television airwaves during the current calendar year, who have taken leading positions in the “BG Top 40” ranking of the “PROFON” association and have noted a significant presence on the streaming platforms Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube and key social indicators. The selection aims to achieve a balance between artists with an established presence on the radio and television airwaves and artists with creative potential and achievements on digital music platforms.
The artists who have accepted to participate in the selection will participate in a television music show program, broadcast live by BNT in three stages, in January and February 2026. The winner will be determined by a combined vote of the television audience and a professional jury.
Bulgaria in Eurovision
Bulgaria joined the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 and is yet to win the event. The country achieved its best results in the competition in 2017 with Kristian Kostov. Bulgaria has participated 14 times in the competition and has only made it to the Grand Final 5 times.
In 2022 Intelligent Music Project represented Bulgaria at the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin with their entry ‘Intention‘.
