CyBC, the Cypriot naitonal broadcaster, has released a press release unveiling the mechanism it used to determine the selection of the 2026 Cypriot Eurovision act- Antigioni.

Antigioni will have the grand honour of defending the Cypriot colours at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna. The London born Greek Cypriot artist has gained much fame, name and recognition in the UK.

Cyprus opted for an internal selection in order to determine its ESC 2026 act, the said selection consisted of two parts. The first part involved an expert 5 member jury who voted for their favourite act out of 9 pontential candidates nominated by Greek record companies.

The second part consisted of an online questionaire on RIK’s official website where the Cypriot public had the chance to express their thoughts and opinions on the artist’s profile and Cyprus’ participation in general. The highest score was achieved by Antigioni Buxton, who has been awarded the golden ticket to Eurovision 2026.

More details on the Cypriot Eurovision 2026 project will be unveiled in due time.

CyBC’s press release reads:

The selection process for the artist who will represent Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 consisted of two parts.

The first part involved voting by a five-member committee of experts. The committee was asked to choose from 9 artists nominated by Greek record labels.

Each member separately evaluated the artists proposed by the companies, rating them from 1 to 9, as many as the proposed artists.

The second part involved completing an electronic questionnaire posted on the RIK website. Through this, the public had the opportunity to express their opinion on the artist’s profile and our country’s participation in general.

The highest score was achieved by Antigone Buxton, who, as already announced, will represent Cyprus in the 70th Eurovision Song Contest in May 2026.
