PBS, the Maltese national broadcaster has confirmed the dates for the upcoming edition of the Maltese national selection- MESC 2026.
The MESC 2026 will be held on 15th and 17th January. MESC 2026 will consist of two televised shows a semi-final and a grand final with a total of 18 acts competing.
The song submission window for MESC 2026 will run from 17-23 November 2025. 18 songs will compete in the semi-final on January 15th, the top 12 acts after a jury/public voting deliberation will proceed to the grand final which is scheduled to be held on 17th January.
The names of the 18 competing acts will be announced on December 1st 2025.
Malta in Eurovision
Malta debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1971 and is yet to win the competition. The Mediterranean island’s best result in the competition has been a second placing achieved in 2002 (Ira Losco) and 2005 (Chiara).
Malta has competed 37 times at the Eurovision Song Contest, next year will mark the country’s 38th ESC participation.
In 2025 Miriana Conte represented Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest with her entry ‘Serving’.
