Just as the dust settles after the iconic Eurovision 2025 edition in Switzerland and Austria’s epic 3rd ESC victory, all eyes are now on set on which Austrian city will have the grand honour of hosting the 70th Eurovision Song Contest next year?
According to the latest media reports in Austria, the Austrian national broadcaster is planning to send out the coveted ESC 2025 bid book to all potential Austrian host cities this week. The 40 page ESC 2026 bidding invitation will be sent out to all Austrian governors, will include the following requirements: hotel capacity, an international airport within close proximity with international flight connections, a venue which fits in with the EBU’s requirements, logistics, suitable logisitics and infrastructure etc.
According to krone.at ORF’s motto is to present Austria as a country of music, culture and tourism and to convey the positive spirit of optimism.
A shorlist of at least three cities is expected to be announced by June, whilst ORF and the EBU are expected to unveil the 2025 Eurovision host city by July.
Numerous Austrian cities have showcased their interest to bid for the coveted role of hosting the 70th ESC edition in Austria next year:
- Vienna
- Innsbruck
- Graz
- Linz & Wels
- Oberwart
The EBU and ORF are yet to confirm the official dates of the 70th Eurovision Song Contest in Austria. More details regarding the 2026 ESC Host City race are expected to be unveiled in due course.
