The race for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 host city is about to kick off in Austria, as the dust settles after the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest. Several Austrian cities seem to be interested in welcoming the Eurovision bandwagon next year, with all its glam, glitz and glitter.

Austria was crowned the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 last Saturday when JJ stormed to victory with his entry ‘Wasted Love’.

Austria will have the grand honour of hosting the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest, namely the 70th edition of the competition. Several cities have expressed their desire to host the competition next year.

The cities of Linz and Wels in Upper Austria are planning to submit a joint bid in order to host Eurovision 2026. Both cities are working on a joint bid with the Messe Wels Hall 22 as the potential venue to host Eurovision 2025, which promises to be both sustainable and green.

The newly built Hall 22 at Messe Wels will be ready by January 2026. Linz intends to the host the public viewing events if it wins the joint bid.

The City of Wels’ official press relase reads:

Upper Austria’s two largest cities, Linz and Wels, are positioning themselves as innovative and sustainable host cities for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. With the most modern and largest venue in Wels combined with the most beautiful public viewing opportunities in Linz, they are joining forces to submit a viable concept for the song contest outside of Vienna.
