Good evening Europe, this is Basel calling! Live from St. Jakobshalle in the North-West of Switzerland, the second semi final of the 69th Eurovision Song Contest is about to start. Tonight ten more countries will hear their name among the qualified acts to the Grand Final of this Saturday.
Not even 48 hours after the sensational start of the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, the lights at St. Jakobshalle are ready to go on again. Cameras are set, the audience is about to flock in. Ready are also the two co-hosts Sandra Studer and Hazel Brugger, who have convinced more than one thanks to their performance in semi final one.
Sixteen countries will perform tonight for the last ten tickets to the Grand Final scheduled on Saturday 17 May 2025. The second and last set of pre-qualified acts will also jump on stage to present their bids in this year’s Eurovision.

The second semi final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 can be followed on many national televisions and on the official Youtube Eurovision channel from 21.00 CET.

Sixteen delegations are eager to jump on stage, this is tonight’s running order:

- Luxembourg – Laura Thorn – La poupée monte le son
- Israel – Yuval Raphael – New day will rise
- Serbia– Princ – Mila
- Finland – Erika Vikman – Ich komme
In addition to these sixteen acts, the already qualified acts from United Kingdom, France and Germany will also perform and will be able to vote. Other non-participating countries can vote under an aggregated “Rest of the World” vote.
The ten most voted countries from the televote will advance to the Grand Final on Saturday 17 May 2025. As per a recent change, there are no more juries voting in the semi finals.
About the show
The second live show is themed Eurovision fans. Eurofans can expect a huge party atmosphere and they shall be ready to celebrate.
Hosts of the two semi finals are Swiss-American poet, comedian and presenter Hazel Brugger as well as singer and TV host Sandra Studer. The latter is also a former Eurovision entrant, having defended the Swiss colours in Rome at Eurovision 1991 (Canzone per te, 5th place).
Inverval acts
In tonight’s semi final we will see again a whole set of former Eurovision entrants from the only time the contest was cancelled, 2020. They will present the entries they could not perform in Rotterdam due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Roop (Lithuania, On fire), Efendi (Azerbaijan, Cleopatra), Destiny (Malta, All of my love) as well as Gjon’s Tears (Switzerland, Répondez-moi).
The show continues with a colourful performance on Switzerand, its linguistic diversity and its main traits. After the usual green room break and the revelation of the ten finalists, the night ends with a reprise of the 1990 Eurovision winner Insieme (Toto Cutugno, Italy) sang by the one and only Sandra Studer.
