At this morning’s press briefing the two 2025 Eurovision co-hosts Hazel Brugger and Sandra Studer have shared some details on their Eurovision experience.
If there is one word to describe how 2025 Eurovision co-hosts have been performing since the beginning of the Eurovision adventure in Basel, this would be connection. While they did not know each other personally before the show, they have come to appreciate and discover each other thanks to the show. “You’re my queen”, even said Sandra Studer to Hazel Brugger.
Made in Switzerland, a new hit
Much talking has been going on since last night, when viewers discovered Made in Switzerland, the interval act of semi final 1 with the special appearance of Eurovision royalty Petra Mede. Both co-hosts were very releaved and happy with how everything went during the first televised show. They love Made in Switzerland and new that it was going to meet success since the first time they rehearsed it.
Hazel Brugger even mentioned the anecdote of when she reached her hotel in the early hours of Wednesday after the first semi final. She heard a man on the street singing the jingle of Made in Switzerland. That was the moment she knew it was a succes. The two co-hosts are pleased with the fact that they were able to show that Switzerland is a modern and open-minded country. The reactions to last night’s show from friends and family were overwhelming.
On the special appearance on Petra Mede, Hazel Brugger said that it was amazing to be side by side with someone who had gone through a Eurovision show already many times. It was great to speak to her and learn from her experience.
Made in Switzerland was co-written by Lukas Hobi and Christian Knecht. Music of Lukas Hobi.
Céline yes? Céline no?
When asked by members of the press about the touching video message of Céline Dion in last night’s semi final, the hosts admitted that they do not know whether the Canadian superstar will be on the Eurovision stage during the Grand Final on Saturday, but they are ready for all scenarios.
“Céline means everything to Switzerland. It is crazy to think that she won Eurovision for Switzerland and that that was the start of her international career. It is kind of absurd. We love her.”
About Basel and Eurovision
“Basel is the best Eurovision host city we could hope for”, declared Sandra Studer. “The grand opening ceremony last Sunday was an amazing day to show that the slogan United by music is more than just three words”, so Hazel Brugger. Basel is vibrating and eager to soak up the energy that the ESC is bringing to them.
Looking ahead
Both co-hosts admitted they have slept very little since the beginning of the rehearsals. Luckily their experience as mothers means they know how to function with little energy. The adrenaline will push them through the next shows and until Sunday. “We showed that the Swiss can be funny”, said Hazel Brugger. Fun is what they will have the next days and until the winner of the 69th Eurovision Song Contest is announced in the early hours of Sunday.
