RAI, the Italian national broadcaster, has announced today that Lucio Corsi will represent Italy at the forthcoming 2025 Eurovision Song Contest, after the Sanremo 2025 winner has declined to compete in Basel.

Lucio Corsi, the runner up of Sanremo 2025 will have the grand honour of representing Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel with his entry ‘ Volevo essere un duro‘.

Lucio will be defending the Italian colours at ESC 2025 after the winner of Sanremo 2025 Olly has decided not to compete in the contest.

RAI’s official press release reads:

Lucio Corsi, runner-up at the 75th edition of the Sanremo Italian Song Festival, will represent Italy in Basel during the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. The international contest that sees 37 nations competing, including 5 big five, including Italy, includes 2 semi-finals, broadcast on May 13 and 15 on Rai 2, and the so-called Grand Final, in which the Italian artist will perform with the song “Volevo essere un duro”, broadcast on Rai 1, Raiplay and Rai Radio2 on May 17.

Rai, in thanking the winner of the 75th edition of the Sanremo Festival and wishing Olly a long and brilliant career as a musician, congratulates Lucio Corsi who has agreed to represent our country at the 69th edition of ESC.
