SSR-SRG, the Swiss national broadcaster and the Presidential Department of the Basel Stadt have kicked off the registration process for the Eurovision 2025 volunteers. The City of Basel is seeking 700 volunteers.

You have to be 18 years old and above to apply to be a volunteer at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.  If you wish to be a volunteer at Eurovision 2025 you can register here.

If you speak several languages and know Basel and the surrounding area then you will be ideal for the task!  Volunteers should be available for at least 10 days from 01-20 May.

The Volunteers recruitment and organization is managed by Swiss Volunteers.

Voluteers will be in charge of carrying out various tasks during the Eurovision weeks: welcoming the fans and press, assisting the international delegations, staffing info and check-points, handling logistic duties, Volunteers will be also helping out at the Delegation Bubble, Media Centre, Eurovision Village  and other official Eurovision venues and hot spots.

The volunteers will be playing a key role at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Basel and will be able to have an unforgetable  exclusive behind the scenes experience.

The City of Basel had opened a pre-registration last September and circa 7,000 people expressed their interest.

SSR-SRG’s  official press release reads:

The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel is a major event – and 700 volunteers are at its heart. Starting today, January 16, 2025, at 1 p.m., interested individuals can register via the Swiss Volunteers platform at www.swissvolunteers.ch to become part of the world’s largest music event.

Through their commitment, volunteers help shape the welcoming spirit of Host City Basel and play a key role in making the event unforgettable. Their tasks are varied: from assisting international delegations and welcoming fans and press, to managing visitor flows, staffing info and check-points, or handling logistical duties. The ESC offers volunteers not only an exclusive behind-the-scenes look but also the chance to be part of a unique communal experience.

Local knowledge is an advantage

The Eurovision Song Contest stands for diversity and inclusion – and the volunteer team should reflect this. Local people who can make a valuable contribution with their local knowledge are particularly welcome.
Anyone aged 18 or over at the time of application and available for at least ten days between 1 May and 20 May 2025 can apply. Volunteers will be selected on the basis of their availability and skills, including language skills and familiarity with Basel and the surrounding area.

Volunteers can expect extensive preparation. In addition to training, they will receive food and clothing for their assignment, which they will be allowed to keep as a thank you for their help. Requirements vary according to the area of work, and an interview is held in advance for certain positions.

 Partnership with Swiss Volunteers

The organization and coordination of volunteer work in Basel is made possible through close collaboration with Swiss Volunteers – the national nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and valuing volunteerism. Through the Swiss Volunteers platform, volunteers can easily indicate their preferences and skills, enabling targeted deployment planning. This system ensures optimal recruitment and deployment planning for the approximately 700 volunteers.

High level of interest

Since September 2024, interested individuals have had the opportunity to pre-register for volunteering at ESC 2025 via a contact form. The response has been highly positive: around 7,000 people have expressed their interest. On January 15, 2025, all pre-registered individuals were informed by email about the next steps.
