The Flemish broadcaster VRT wants to host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2005. Diane Waumans, spokesperson of VRT, told that to our colleagues of Eurosong.be.
During the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen, broadcasters got the chance to apply for the contest in 2005. According to Jeroen Depraetere, co-ordinotor for the contest at the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), five countries applied to host the 2005 edition.
If VRT will be selected by the EBU to host the event, the Walloon broadcaster RTBF will not be involved with the organisation.
The Netherlands also applied to host the contest in 2005. The EBU is awaiting written confirmations of the three other countries that applied. The next Junior Eurovision Song Contest will most likely take place in November 2004 in Manchester, UK.
