The United Kingdom’s 2019 Eurovision representative, Michael Rice, gave an interview on Israeli TV, during his postcard’s filming.

You can watch the interview below (in English with subtitles in Hebrew):

During the interview, Michael talks about how he’s enjoying his time in Israel and looking forward to the contest, and discusses his experience on Eurovision: You Decide earlier this year.

He also touches on the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which is growing ever popular in his home country. In this instance, BDS campaign for a boycott of the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest due to Israel’s poor treatment of its Palestinian population. Michael has little to say on this matter however, as he believes music should be used as a way of uniting people, and Eurovision is not the place for politics.

Michael Rice will compete for the United Kingdom with the song Bigger than us at the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 on Saturday 18 May.
