Following news earlier this year about Cyprus’s forthcoming plans for the Eurovision Song Contest, auditions are now underway in the search for the country’s next representative at the 63rd edition of the competition.

The search for the next Cypriot Eurovision entrant is well and truly underway as auditions kicked off earlier today!

Posting via their official Facebook page this afternoon, the Cypriot national broadcaster – CyBC – posted an image of the 3-member panel set to determine the next entrant for the nation at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest.

It’s only a matter of time until we find out which artists will be competing for the right to represent the nation at next year’s competition, with Cyprus’s act set to be determined in a live television show in January 2018. The winner will be selected through a combined jury and televote.

Cypriot song for 2018

As was confirmed in the country’s initial announcement, the 2018 Cypriot entry will be written and composed by award-winning Greek-Swedish producer and songwriter – Alex Papaconstantinou, also known as Alex P.

Alex P is no stranger to the world of Eurovision, having already produced 3 previous entries for the competition for 3 different nations – Yassou Maria (Greece 2007), Always (Azerbaijan 2009) and La la love (Cyprus 2012).

2018 will see the producer’s fourth entry in the competition, which is set to be unveiled only a matter of weeks after the country’s national final.

Further details regarding Cyprus’s Eurovision search are expected to be revealed over the coming weeks.
