The city of Kyiv is gearing up for the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest and is all set to embrace the musical competiton in the best way possible. The 2017 Eurovision program of cultural events has been released. Kyiv will be welcoming Eurovision visitors with a grand line up of activities in store!

Kyiv’s authorities have approved a program of cultural events scheduled to be held in the Ukrainian capital during the Eurovision period (30 April-14 May) as reported by Kyiv City State Administration’s Press Office.

The statment reads:

The capital authorities have approved the program of cultural events for the Eurovision period. Kyiv residents and guests will enjoy a variety of activities, workshops, festivals, exhibitions, etc.

Sofiivska Square

Sofiivska Square will be housing a Fan Zone from 30 April- 14 May accommodating up to 10,000 visitors. The fan zone will be divided into cultural, art, information, recreation, entertainment zones and and will include  food courts.

Troitska Square

Visitors and Eurovision fans will get a chance to get acquainted with Ukrainian culture, national and contemporary music and theatre performances at Troitska Square. Classical music concerts including the participation of the operetta theater orchestra,  jazz and folk groups performances will all be held here. Visitors will be able to experience  master classes, exhibitions and kids activities. You will also find q photo zone, tourist information center and a food court here.

Kontraktova Square

Kontraktova Square will host the Feel Ukraine cultural and artistic project. The motifs of Ukrainian embroidery will be used in the decorations of all the stages and zones. Every day there will be a different theme: jazz day, master classes day, Ukrainian literature day, fine art day, costume ,jewelry day etc.

Poshtova Square

The Eurovision: Retrospective cultural and art project will be located at Poshtova Square. A Karaoke festival will be held there for all guests. Everyone will be able to participate in the festival.

Kyiv Fortress

The Art Kyiv Fort 2017 Fan Zone will be located on the territory of the National Historical and Architectural Reserve Kyiv Fortress. The area will be equipped with temporary spherical tent structures that will be placed on the esplanade, imaging the Eurovision 2017 logo.

Kyiv Art Week at the Toronto Kyiv Business Gallery

From 04-07 May Eurovision guests will get the chance to to visit the 2017 Kyiv Art Week. The Toronto-Kyiv Business Center will be the main location of the festival in 2017, which will host the Kyiv Art Fair, the Museum of Private Collections Exhibition and the special BIRUCHIY Art Residence Project.

Face of Art at the Lavra Kyiv Art Gallery

The Lavra Kyiv Art Gallery will host the International Art Festival “Face of Art from 05-14 May.

Kyiv Light Fest 3 D Mapping Show

The Kyiv Light Fest 3D Mapping Show will be held as part of  the Internationa Light and Media Art Festival from 12-14 May at Kontraktova Square, Poshtova Square and Kyoto Park.

The 2017 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 9, 11 and 13 May at the IEC, in Kyiv. Ukraine.
