Both Hadise, who represented Turkey in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest, and Belgian 2006 representative Kate Ryan received nominations for the prestigious TMF music awards in Belgium. Hadise received three nominations in the categories Best Urban, Best Album and Best female artist. Kate Ryan received a nomination in the Best Pop category.
Hadise was born in Belgium in 1985 and she became famous, when she took part in the first season ofthe talent search Idool in 2003. Although she did not even reach the top ten, she got her first record contract shortly after. In 2005, her first album Sweat was released. While it did not reach the Ultratop top 50 (but peaked at number 52), the album spawned the hit singles Sweat, Stir me up, Milk chocolate girl and Bad boy. Her first number one hit in Belgium was her 2009 Eurovision Song Contest Düm tek tek. She would finish fourth in Moscow having already been the runner-up in the first semi final.
Kate Ryan is one of Belgium's most successful singers and she has had hit songs all over Europe and the has already won a series of TMF Awards. In 2006, she represented Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest with Je t'adore but finished 12th in the semi final thus not making it to the final.
