The Aussies have revealed their 3rd Eurovision participant earlier today. Isaiah Firebrace will be flying the Australian flag at the forthcoming 2017 Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv with his entry Don’t come easy. But who is Isaiah Firebrace? Let’s get to know the Aussie lad…

Isaiah Firebrace got his first big break in the music business on X Factor Australia, but it wasn’t all smooth sailing.

He was knocked out of the series in 2015 after forgetting his lyrics on stage. He trained extensively in the year that followed, including travelling more than three hours from his Moama home to Melbourne and back again for five-hour sessions at the Jaanz School of Singing.

He tried again in 2016, but almost didn’t make it through the audition, breaking down in tears after a deja vu moment when he again forgot his lyrics. The judges decided to give him a second chance and he went on to win the contest.

Isaiah received a gift on his 17th birthday that’s pretty hard to beat – winning X Factor Australia 2016.

A softly spoken kid, at high school no one even knew Isaiah could sing, until he unleashed a powerhouse vocal at a school event in year 8.

Isaiah’s debut single It’s Gotta Be You hit #1 on the Australian iTunes chart and has racked up over 50 million streams worldwide. It’s Gotta Be You stormed the Spotify charts in over 15 countries including Australia, Denmark, Norway, Canada, The US and Sweden, where the single is now Platinum.

Isaiah’s biggest musical influence is Mariah Carey, and his hero is Jessica Mauboy. Jessica has invited Isaiah to support her on the national All The Hits Live Tour kicking off March 30th. Isaiah has looked up to Jess not just for her incredible talent, but also the inspiration she’s provided to follow your dreams, and now Isaiah has a chance to do the same when he takes his place at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest.

Isaiah will be representing Australia with Don’t Come Easy, an emotive ballad which has been penned by the same team behind Dami Im’s 2016 Eurovision entry Sound of Silence.

2017 will see Australia’s third Eurovision participation. The country debuted in the competition in 2015 when it was invited to join the Eurovision party in Vienna. Australia stepped into the Eurovision world on a good foot achieving a 5th place with Guy Sebastian in 2015 and nearly walking away with the coveted Grand Prix with Dami Im in 2016.

The 2017 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 9, 11 and 13 May at the IEC in Kyiv, Ukraine.
