Following days of auditions airing throughout Romania, the country’s national broadcaster TVR has released the names of the 15 semi-finalists set to compete in the nation’s national selection for the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest.

Having shortlisted a total of 72 entries to compete in the audition phase of the selection, with 1 act later withdrawing from the competition, this month has seen each of the bidding acts performing to the 5 member jury panel for a place in the semi-final stage of Selecţia Naţională 2017.

The 5 member jury panel, who will also determine the 10 finalists in the semi-final event on the 26 February, consists of the following members:

• Luminiţa Anghel: Romania’s 2005 representative (Let me try, 3rd place in the final)
• Ovi Jacobsen: Romania’s 2010 and 2014 representative (Playing with fire, 3rd place in final and Miracle, 12th place in final)
• Adrian Romcescu: Composer of Romania’s 1998 entry Eu cred
• Paula Seling: Romania’s 2010 and 2014 representative (Playing with fire, 3rd place in final and Miracle, 12th place in final)
• Andrei Tudor: Composer of Romania’s Pe-o margine de lume

This evening during a special broadcast on TVR2, TVR HD and TVR+, the 15 semi-finalists who have been shortlisted by the jury panel were revealed for the first time.

The 15 Romanian semi-finalists will compete live for the first time on the 26 February, in which it’ll be down to a 100% jury vote to determine which 10 acts will qualify to the final of the selection the following week.

The winner of Selecţia Naţională 2017 will be determined on the 5 March via a 100% public vote; the jury will have no say in the final vote.
