The 28 participants of Melodifestivalen 2017 were revealed earlier today in a press conference held by the Swedish broadcaster SVT. Afterwards, we had the chance to talk to some of the artists who will come back to the schlager stage after participating at least once. Some have also won Melodifestivalen earlier and even the Eurovision Song Contest itself!

Christer Björkman, the Executive Producer of Melodifestivalen 2017, was responsible for gathering the whole lineup of this year’s contest. He explained the special variety of this year’s selection: “The aim every year is of course to make the competition as exciting as possible, and this year we were fortunate enough to have really good songs. I think it might have to do with last year’s commercial results, we had almost 200 million streams on our entry from last year, and it helped a lot to get many new composers into the competition. We also have all the major record labels involved and they helped us getting really good artists, all these together made it happen. It’s a fantastic year and there are so many hits in the lineup. It’s incredible.”

Have a watch and see what the veterans of Melodifestivalen are preparing for this year’s contest along with their expectations and plans:
