Eurovision 2008 final will remain in the Spanish television History books as the most watched show in the last six years. Overall, the 3-hour long programme reached an audience of 9,336,000 viewers, 59.3% share and 20% rating. Therefore, Eurovision 2008 became the second most watched Eurovision show in Spain ever, right after the 2002 contest, when Rosa represented the Iberian country.

Eurovision viewing figures in Spain reached their highest peak by 22.35 CET, when Rodolfo Chikilicuatre and his dancers were performing the entry Baila el chiki chiki. 13,873,000 viewers(78.1% share) were watching TVE1 in that moment. If we take into account all those people who tuned in to TVE1 in any moment during the Eurovision final, the total number climbs up to 22 million people.

The voting round gathered in front of the TV screens even more people than the overall viewing figures: From 23.25 to 00.15 CET, 10,619,000 spectators were watching the Spanish public broadcaster, a share of 62.8%. The full show got an average number of 9,336,000 viewers, 59.3% share and one fifth of the Spanish population.

However, Spanish representative in 2002, Rosa, still holds the trophy of most watched Spanish Eurovision entrant ever with 12,755,000 spectators (80.4% share).

Rodolfo Chikilicuatre placed 16th at last Saturday's Eurovision final. This is the best result for Spain since 2004, when Ramón ended up 10th.
