Following 2-years absence from the competition, HRT confirmed Croatia’s return to the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest back in November where much speculation has since accumulated regarding the possible Croatian representative, a reoccurring name being Nina Kraljić.
According to 24sata.hr, the winner of The Voice of Croatia 2015, Nina Kraljić is tipped to be internally selected to represent Croatia at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in the host city of Stockholm.
At the end of the week, the broadcaster will reportedly sign a contractual agreement with Nina along with the music company Universal Music and will shortly after go on to formally confirm Nina’s participation in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. The record label along with the broadcaster are expected to split the costs of the Croatian participation, reportedly saving the broadcaster around €270,000.
Nina Kraljić is a 24-year-old singer who rose to fame after competing in and winning the first season of The Voice of Croatia 2015. Following her win at the competition, Nina went on to release her first single Zaljuljali smo svijet which has been viewed more than 200,000 times on YouTube. Nina’s performances from The Voice have also been highly viewed on YouTube, accumulating over a million views.
There has so far been no official confirmation from HRT, but an announcement is expected to be made in due course.
