The Rising Star for Eurovision 2016, the show that will select Israel’s representative for Eurovision Song Contest 2016, will kick off tonight.

The selection is expected to have a total of 15 shows, which are all pre-recorded, except for the final show which will transmitted live and is expected to be held at around the middle of February.

THE SHOW

In Rising Star each act performs with a screen between the stage and the crowd. The crowd and the jury, made of Mookie, Keren Peles, Assaf Etedgi and Harel Skaat (Israel’s representative for Eurovision 2010) can vote for or against the act during the performance. If the act has managed to reach a defined percentage of the votes, the screen will rise up and the act will go on to the next stage.

HOW TO WATCH

The show will begin at 20:00 CET and will last for 1 hour and 45 minutes.

The show will be transmitted on Channel 2. International viewers can watch it online through the broadcaster’s online TV
