Now that all the entries at next year’s Melodifestivalen have been announced, Christer Björkman has set his sights on the forthcoming contest in May when it comes to the Globen in Stockholm next year.
Måns Zelmerlöw won the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna and gave Sweden their 6th victory at Eurovision. This morning, all 28 entries were announced for Melodifestivalen 2016, some old and some new. But what seems to be apparent is the diversity and talent on offer at the upcoming Swedish finals.
In an interview with svt.se, Christer Björkman is quoted as saying:
This is really really fun! It is a very strong field where there is variety with the bunch of artists who are here to compete. They all have great material, so it will be an interesting final battle. It’s an easy year for me.
Talking about another possible Swedish victory, Christer goes on to say:
Yes! We can win again, but first you will need someone who is able to win Eurovision and win Melodifestivalen. For the starting field, there are several winning candidates.
We have in the line-up one former Melodifestivalen winner in the shape of Martin Stenmarck, Schlager veterans such as Anna Book and Linda Bengtzing along with new fresh talent such as Ace Wilder, Molly Sandén and Lisa Ajax. Former finalist David Lindgren is also in the mix in what is going to prove to be a tough battle for the honour of representing Sweden on home turf at the Globen in May 2016.
Sweden has won the Eurovision Song Contest on 6 occasions starting with ABBA in 1974 and more recently this year with Måns Zelmerlöw’s Heroes.
