Norway: Jan Fredrik Karlsen new MGP manager- MGP 2016 submission kicks off

NRK, the Norwegian national broadcaster has revealed that Jan Fredrik Karlsen has been appointed as the new MGP manager, thus he will be replacing Vivi Stenberg who has been responsible for the Norwegian Eurovision national selection for the past few years.

Artists wishing to compete in the 2016 Eurovision national selection- MGP 2016 can do so until 11 September and can submit their applications here. The rules and regulations for participation have also been revealed whilst the dates and format for the 2016 Norwegian national selection MGP 2016 are yet to be revealed.

The competition is open for composers from all nations but with a special encouragement for local composers to submit their respectives entries.

In 2015 Norway opted for its annual Eurovision national selection MGP in order to select its Eurovision entry and act for Vienna.

Mørland & Debrah Scarlett won the 2015 Norwegian national final and were awarded the golden ticket to represent Norway at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest with their entry Monster like me. Norway achieved an honorable 8th placing in the grand finale in Vienna.

Norway debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1960 and has won the competition thrice in 1985 with Bobbysocks, in 1995 with Secret Garden and in 2009 with Alexander Rybak. The country has hosted the event 3 times, twice in Oslo (1996,2010) and once in Bergen (1986).

The preliminary dates for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest have been set on 10, 12 and 14 May.
