Eurovision 2016: Örnsköldsvik enters the race with Fjällräven Center

Swedish Radio, Sveriges Radio reports today that yet one more city has decided to enter the 2016 Eurovision host city race, namely Örnsköldsvik with Fjällräven Center.

Örnsköldsvik thus joins Stockholm, Goteborg, Sandviken and Linköping in the quest to host the forthcoming 2016 Eurovision Song Contest next year.

Örnsköldsvik is entering the 2016 ESC host city race with the Fjällräven Center. Fjällräven Center has a capacity of around 9,800 persons when it comes to hosting a musical event. The city has prepared a video showcasing its bid and how it plans to organize the event, with the press center planned to be placed in the parking lot of the Fjällräven Center.

SVT has invited all the cities/venues interested in hosting the forthcoming Eurovision edition to submit their bids along with their applications. In the next few weeks all the interested parties will send in their application, hereafter SVT will study and evaluate all the submitted bids. The Swedish broadcaster is expected to make an announcement revealing the 2016 Eurovision host city by late July/early August.

So far Stockholm is bidding to host the Eurovision with 3 potential venues the Friends Arena, the Tele 2 Arena and the Ericsson Globen Arena, Sandviken with the Göransson Arena, Goteborg with Scandinavium and Linköping with the SAAB Arena.

The preliminary dates for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest have been sent on 10, 12 and 14 May.
