The Makemakes, who will represent Austria at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest, have recently been busy promoting their entry around Europe in the lead up to this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. As part of their promotion, the trio have gone on to brew and produce their own brand of beer!
Last Wednesday on the 22 April, the Austrian trio made up of Dodo Muhrer, Markus Christ and Florian Meindl were invited to the Ottakringer Brewery where alongside the brewmaster Martin Simion, The Makemakes went on to brew their own beer!
Named The Makemakes – Das Bier, the band produced a total of 3,000 bottles which will be served on the 17 May in the Ottakringer Brewery, which is also the host venue for this year’s Euroclub.
CEO of the Ottakringer Brewery Matthias Ortner stated:
As host of the Euroclub, the location of the brewery will serve as a meeting place for artists, journalists and delegations. Conveniently located close to the connection of music is our brewing factory Craft Bier Brauerei, which opened in autumn 2014 under the motto ‘Brewed with love and music’. Therefore we are particularly pleased that our Austrian candidates The Makemakes, together with our team in the brewing factory, created their own beer.
Band member Markus went on to reveal:
It has always been a dream of ours to brew our own beer, mainly because my grandpa was a brewmaster. We believe that we have produced a very good, fruity beer [..] Incidentally also suitable for non-beer drinkers!
The Makemakes will represent the host nation, Austria, at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest. With their entry I am yours, the trio will compete at the Grand Final of the 23 May at the host venue, the Wiener Stadthalle.
