Sad news from France. The AFP (Agence France Presse) announced that Martine Havet has sadly died from renal failure last Wednesday in a hospital close to Paris. She was 67.

Martine Havet represented France at the Eurovision Song Contest in The Hague back in 1980 as a member of the group Profil, who performed Hé hé m’ssieurs dames.

Martine Havet began her artistic career when she was a child. In 1958, she played the role of Cosette in the movie version of Les Misérables with French superstar actor Jean Gabin in the role of Jean Valjean.

She performed in a few other films and was also seen in TV programs for children in the 60’s. She also had a few records published.

The group Profil was formed to perform the song written by Richard de Bordeaux, Richard Joffo and Sylvano Santorio. They placed in 11th position and shortly after disbanded.

Another member of the group, Jean-Claude Corbel, died back in 1996. He was 43.

The three other performers were Martine Bauer, Francis Rignault and Jean-Pierre Izbinski.
