Slovenia: EMA 2015 rules revealed; call for songs

RTVSLO, the Slovenian national broadcaster has released the rules and regulations for the 2015 Slovenian Eurovision national selection- EMA 2015.

Slovenia will yet again opt for a national selection in order to select its Eurovision entry and act for the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest.

Artists and composers wishing to compete in the forthcoming EMA 2015- Slovenian 2015 Eurovision national final can send in their applications/entries to RTVSLO as of today. The deadline for artists to submit their applications for  EMA 2015  has been set on 21 December. The 2015 EMA  rules and regulations can be found here. A special comittee will be resposible to select a total of 6 acts/entries for the grand final of EMA 2015 from the submitted entries+ 6 acts/entries from invited composers/artists. The date of the Slovenian Eurovision national final is yet to be confirmed. Hence a total of  12 acts will battle in the  Slovenian Eurovision national final.

The grand final will consist of 2 voting rounds. During the first round a special jury will be responsible to select 2/12 acts. During the 2nd round (Superfinal) the 2 acts will battle for the golden ticket to Vienna. The 2015 Slovenian entry and act will be selected via televoting during the Superfinal round.

In 2014 Slovenia selected its Eurovision entry and act via a national final- EMA. Tinkara Kovac won the golden ticket to Copenhagen with her entry Round and round.  She placed 25th in the grand final in Copenhagen.

Slovenia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993 with IX Band and is yet to win the event. The country’s best its placing in the competition has been a 7th place achieved in 1995 with Darja Svajger and in 2001 with Nusa Derenda.

The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 19, 21, 23 May at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna, Austria.
