MRT, the Macedonian national broadcaster, has revealed that they will select their entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 through the Skopje Festival.

The festival this year will take place on 13 November and the winner will earn the right to represent FYR Macedonia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Austria next year.

20 songs will compete in the final, which will be decided by a 50-50 split vote between a public televote and an international jury.

The submission period to enter the Skopje Festival was due to close today (15 July), but it has now been extended until 31 July.

The festival has previously been used as a national final for the Macedonian entry from 1996-2002 and again from 2008-2011.

In the last few years the country has opted for internal selections, however they have failed to reach the final in the last two editions of the Eurovision Song Contest.

In 2014 Tijana Dapcevic was chosen by MRT to represent FYR Macedonia, but she failed to reach the final after finishing 13th in the semi-final.

FYR Macedonia are yet to win the contest, having made their official debut in 1998. Their best result thus far is 12th, which they achieved in 2006 whith Elena Risteska’s Ninanajna.
