Belarus: Conchita will not appear at the 2014 Slavianski Bazaar

Conchita Wurst, who represented Austria at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest, will not be making an appearance at this year’s Slavianski Bazaar in Belarus.

The Slavianski Bazaar is an annual music festival which takes place in the host city of Vitebsk, Belarus. Each year, a number of artists take part at the festival which is devoted to celebrating and embracing Slavic music. Many Eurovision artists have been known to compete at the festival, some of which include; Ruslana (Ukraine 2004), Željko Joksimović (Serbia & Montenegro 2004, Serbia 2012), Petr Elfimov (Belarus 2009), Donny Montell (Lithuania 2012) and Alyona Lanskaya (Belarus 2013) as well as the late Toše Proeski (FYR Macedonia 2004).

Earlier this year, it was revealed that the winner of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest would be invited to perform at the event in Vitebsk as a star guest, however according to German news site bild.de, the Slavianski Bazaar’s show director Alexander Sidorenko commented that since Conchita Wurst’s Eurovision win, he has not managed to discuss the proposal with her management. Conchita’s management have not commented on the situation.

This year’s Slavianski Bazaar Song Festival takes place from the 10-14 July where participants from over 30 countries will perform at the event. This year’s judging panel consists of 5 music professionals; Kim Breitburg, Marlow Rosado, Alexander Rybak (Norway 2009), Donny Montell (Lithuania 2012) and Samanta Tina (Latvian NS 2012, 2013 & 2014).

Like previous years, many former Eurovision artists will perform at the event, some of which include Ruslan Alekhno (Belarus 2008), Alyona Lanskaya (Belarus 2013), Teo (Belarus 2014), Alexander Rybak (Norway 2009) and many more.
