Yesterday, the organizing committee of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2014, met with the 20 artists that are set to compete in the 2014 Maltese Eurovision national selection.

Amongst many things, Mr. Anton Attard  the Maltese Head of Deleagation at the ESC, announced that the filming for the promotional music videos will take place on Sunday 15 December. He also announced that those who are willing to tweak their song, could do so for the sake of improving quality. Also, for the very first time, there will an option that backing vocals can be pre recorded, although this doesn’t change the fact that backing vocals have to be performed live in Copenhagen.

A draw was held to determine who would open and close the show. Performing first would be Amber singing Because I have you and performing last would be Corazon with Ten.

The venue for the show was confirmed and it will be the MFCC (Malta Fairs and Convention Centre) in Ta’ Qali which has hosted the event the past 7 years except for 2011.

The 20 artists will compete in a semi-final on 7  February and 14 of them will move on to the final the following day on 8 February 2014. The winner will represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen, Denmark on the 6 or 8 of May 2014.

Malta was represented by Gianluca singing Tomorrow in 2013 achieving 8th place in the final.
