Norway: 600 submissions for MGP 2014

No less than 600 songs have been submitted to participate in the Norwegian national selection that will decide the next  Norwegian representative for the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest in May.

It was reported today that around 600 applications were received by NRK to participate in the Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix. The submissions include many famous names in the Norwegian music industry as well as past Eurovision participants.

MGP director Vivi Stenberg, stated at VG.no that the number of applications is as last year’s. Mrs Stenberg expressed her satisfaction on the number and quality of the submissions. The songs received so far are from a mix of newcomers and well known artists in Norway.

Revamped MGP 2014

As it was reported in early August 2013, the MGP 2014 will consist of 3 semifinals of 5 participants each and the Grand Final. The dates of the shows will be announced in due course by the Norwegian broadcaster.

Last year, Margaret Berger won the Norwegian MGP 2013 and represented the country in 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö with the song I feed you my love, finishing 4th in the Grand final.
