Belgian national broadcaster VRT  has informed esctoday.com that the 2014 Belgian national selection Eurosong 2014 will consist of 2 selections : 1 for artists and 1 for 1 for songs separately, both of which will be combined during the shows that VRT will be planning to air.

VRT will release more information regarding the 2014 Eurovision national selection in due course.

The selection process will feature a series of programmes which, according to VRT/Eén will let “anyone whoever dreamed of performing on the biggest stage in Europe to give it a try”.

The candidates have been asked to audition in a slightly unconventional way.  They must submit a short clip of themselves performing a song, but not just any song – they must perform their own version of a classic Eurovision Song Contest song!  Due to the wide range of music genres which have featured in the Contest over the past 58 years, the possibilities are limitless! A ballad version of Hard rock hallelujah, an up-tempo Molitva or even a country Fly on the wings of love are all examples of what a bit of creativity and over 1000 songs can do!

The Flemish broadcaster is also on the lookout for composers and songwriters, both Belgian and international, who wish to submit their songs for the selection.

Candidates wishing to represent Belgium at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest can submit their applications to VRT until  7 October. The rules and regulations for the 2014 Belgian Eurovision national selection – Eurosong 2014 can be found here.
