RTE, the Irish national broadcaster has informed and confirmed to esctoday.com that Ireland will participate at the forthcoming 2014 Eurovision Song Contest in Denmark. The method and mechanism to select the 2014 Irish entry is yet to be determined and announced.

Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, San Marino and Belgium have all confirmed their participation at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest having announced their plans for the forthcoming Eurovision edition.

Ireland has won the Eurovision Song Contest a total of 7 times ( 1971,1981,1987, 1992,1993, 1994,1996) and is the country that has won the event the most times.

Ireland holds many Eurovision records: The Emerald Isle is also the only country that has won the contest 3 years in a row ( 1992, 1993, 1994) and has hosted it 3 years in row too ( 1992, 1993, 1994). Eire is also the country that has won the event twice with the same singer, Johnny Logan (1980 and 1987).

Ryan Dolan represented Ireland at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest with  Only love survives. Despite his poor result in Malmo the Irish singer has gained much popularity and fame not only at home in Ireland but overseas too. He will be attending the 2013 Stockholm Pride next August where he will join many former Eurovision stars.
