Yesterday saw all the contestants of the first semi-final rehearse for the second time this week.  Every act had a 30 minute slot to put to perfection their performance. Esctoday.com managed to talk to Despina Olympiou, the Cypriot representative for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest.

The 37 year old contestant will represent Cyprus for the first time and was selected internally by Cypiot national broadcaster, CyBC.

Our very own Esctoday.com’s Robin Scott conducted the interview and approached different themes such as her performances around the world and her joy to discover new cultures, the reasons why she decided to sing in Greek despite her ability to sing in different languages (English, Spanish …), the accident she had while shooting the official video of An me thimasai, the meaning of her song…

Cyprus debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981 with the group Island and is yet to win the contest. The Mediterranean island’s best placing at the Eurovision Song Contest has been a 5th placing in 1982, 1997 and 2004.
