ORF, the national Austrian broadcaster has announced the names of the 5 candidates that will compete at the 2013 Eurovision Austrian national final. Yela, Natália Kelly, The Bandaloop, Elijah and Falco Luneau are the lucky acts that will battle against each another in their quest to represent Austria at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest. The artists were officially presented today during a morning show aired on Austria’s biggest radio station Hitradio Ö3.
Last October, a special team led by Thomas Rabitsch were busy scouting the ideal candidates for ORF from the Austrian music scene. The most important criteria  has been  the artistic independence, a prominent voice of international stature and a desire to represent our country at the biggest music competition in the world. Yela, Natália Kelly, The Bandaloop, Elijah and Falco Luneau are the  five acts that  have been selected to compete at the 2013 Austrian national final. They come  from  different musical backgrounds and different musical genres. They represent and depict the variety, creativity and above all the high quality of the local music scene.
ORF TV Director Mag Kathrin Zechner :

We have set ourselves the goal to present sophisticated, internationally competitive and Austrian artists in the preliminary round, which need not fear comparison of the highest level. This country has produced great singers and songwriters and will continue to do so. For the Eurovision Song Contest 2013, a team led by Thomas Rabitsch along with ORF have  nominated  five different artists that demonstrate the variety and quality of contemporary musical creativity in Austria and of which we can be proud of.
