Albania to participate in Eurovision 2013

Following Albania’s best result ever in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, the country’s public broadcaster RTSH has confirmed that they will be selecting and sending a representative to Sweden in 2013.

In a statement published on the RTSH website, the broadcaster states that Rona Nishliu achieved an “excellent” result in Baku, the best since the country’s debut in 2004: 146 points and 5th place. Their 2012 successful participation has led the broadcaster to already confirm that they will be attending the Swedish contest next year.

This was a brave choice from Albania – definitely a love it/hate it, marmite type of song and peformance. I personally thought it was great and very different. Albania are normally one of the first countries to choose their songs so it will be interesting to see what they follow this up with.

Congratulations from Cyprus to Rona and Albania for 5 th place !!! They trully deserve it . And i m happy beacuse my country help a little bit for that. I thing next year participations will brake any recor, i just afraid a little bit from Poland and Slovakia maybe and San Marino. But since Eurovision president are Swede will do his best . I also thing that Liechtenstein will make debut to Sweden, and maybe we will see Monaco, Czech Repuplic and Luxembourg to return.

Let’s get back to the good old days where people vote for songs and not who lives closest to them though.

Yes, I wish for that, too. It won’t happen – many countries just vote more patriotic or for their region, how silly and thats so “not-contest-like”.

Albania was a milestone in ESC history this year. Full of voice and art, so different ans special. I am glad about their position. Well done!
