The Czech Republic’s Head of Delegation, Jan Bors, will be leaving CT (Ceska Televize) in due course. The Czech national broadcaster is set to appoint a new person for the coveted job.

Jan Bors was appointed as the Czech Head of Delegation in 2016 and has led the Czech Delegation for four years. His hard work and talent have brought the Czech Republic some of its best results in the competition: in 2016 the Czechs qualified to the Grand Final for the very firs time in history and in 2018 the landlocked nation achieved its best ever result in the contest when Mikolas Josef placed 6th in Lisbon.

Jan also headed the team who developed the online national selection in order to determine the Czech Eurovision representative, which proved to be quite successful and had a massive impact on the Czech music industry. He has also led the development of the forthcoming 2020 Czech national televised national final, which is set to take place in Prague next January.

Jan has decided to leave Ceska Televize after working there for 12 years where he grew as a professional and excelled in his projects. He made the announcement today via his official Facebook account:

Czech Republic in Eurovision

The Czech Republic debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 with  Kabat and is yet to win the competition. The country achieved its best result in the contest in 2018 when Mikolas Josef placed 6th in Lisbon with his song Lie to me.

The Czechs have partaken in Europe’s favorite television show 7 times, out of which they have qualified to the Grand Final thrice, namely in 2016, 2o18 and 2019.

The central European land locked country has not been very lucky in the competition, after three consecutive years of poor results and non-qualification the Czechs withdrew from the contest in 2010 and returned back after a 5 year hiatus in 2016.

In 2019 Lake Malawi represented  the Czech Republic at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv with their entry Friend of a friend. The trio achieved a 11th place in the Grand Final in Israel.
