Yesterday, the Dutch Eurovision Artists foundation (EA) presented the first of two books that describe the history of the Dutch national finals of the Eurovision Song Contest. The book, that was written by Ferry K. van der Zant and which contains a preface by former Eurovision participant Anneke Grönloh, was issued as a gift within the scope of the 25th anniversary of the foundation, last year, to the benefactors of the foundation: the subscribers to the foundations magazine, EA-nieuws. The title of the book is a contraction of two Dutch Eurovision song titles: Wanneer wordt het weer een beetje net als toen?, which literally means When will it be like in those days again?.

This first volume, which takes up 138 pages (A4 size), gives you detailed information on all the Dutch National finals that were held in the period 1956 – 1980. It is lavished with beautiful pictures, prints of record sleeves, facts and figures and background stories. Despite the fact that the book is completely written in Dutch, it is an indispensable item for every Eurovision Song contest fancier. The pictures, record sleeves, facts and figures are universal enough for every non-Dutch speaking person.

The book was presented by the author on a Eurovision-convention yesterday in De Meern venue, where all the EA-nieuws subscribers received their copy of the book. It was an immediate success as several people had to be send away from the venue after the convention had ended; they were still reading the book! The presentation of the book was given added luster to by performances of Sasja Brouwers and Mary Amora, who both took part in this years Dutch National song contest final. Furthermore, the radio-program Schiffers.fm received the EA-award 2002/2003 for its effort to raise awareness for the Eurovision Song at the Dutch audience. This award has been presented annually since 1993.
