Across the Atlantic for her US television debut: Netta has performed for the first time in the United States on live television, where she introduced the nation to her winning Eurovision Song Contest 2018 entry Toy.

It was confirmed earlier this month that the winner of the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest, Netta, would be flying to the United States later this month to make her first ever appearance on US national television, with a performance of her winning song entry – Toy – to take place live on the Today Show.

Eurovision fans have been eagerly awaiting this appearance and the day has finally arrived! Today, the reigning Eurovision champion was interviewed on the Today Show about her Eurovision win and how life has been since winning the competition, followed by her anticipated performance of Toy on the programme.

Netta speaks of Eurovision victory

Mentioning that the singer has joined Eurovision royalty alongside the likes of ABBA and Celine Dion, the Today Show presenter asked Netta how everything has been since her win at the competition, to which the Israeli star responded:

It’s been an unreal experience. Everyday I’ve been waking up in another country and I’m like “What? Where am I?”.

Speaking of her highlights since her contest win in May, Netta revealed that one stand out moment for her was when she met Prince William in Tel Aviv earlier this year, adding:

I met Prince William. He was a real Prince Charming, he’s really really sweet. Very planned out, we had a 10 minute walk, they closed the streets [for us].

The singer went on to discuss the powerful message of her song Toy, which brought Israel their fourth win at the Eurovision Song Contest earlier this year:

This song was inspired by the Me Too movement, and this is an amazing time when women are finding their voices this year and it’s amazing. But you know it gives power to everybody who has been struck down by a bigger force; by your boss, been bullied. So it’s to everybody who has been told that they can’t be what they want to be.
