Lidia Isac, the Moldovan representative of 2016 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Falling stars, has successfully qualified to the live shows of The Voice Romania.

Perhaps Eurovision wasn’t Lidia Isac’s time, as she finished in the penultimate position in the first semi-final and did not manage to go the finals. But the same can’t be said for her time in The Voice!

Auditioning in the Blind Audition stage of Romania’s version of The Voice (Vocea României) back in September, Isac got to turn all four judges chairs by singing Adele’s hit single When we were young, before going on to choose coach Tudor Chirilă’s team for the upcoming shows.

For the Battles, Isac chose to sing The story by Brandi Carlile who battled along with fellow contestant Axenia Sova. Isac got her ticket for the live shows after winning the battle, therefore moving on to the Live Shows stage of the contest.

This is not Isac’s first attempt at competing in The Voice, having also passed the blind auditions in season 6 of The Voice: la plus belle voix in France earlier this year.

Joining the team of Florent following her initial audition, Isac was eliminated from the competition in the Battles stage, therefore failing to make the Live Shows.

Eurovision background

Back in 2016, Isac was selected via the Moldovan national selection to represent her country at the Eurovision Song Contest in Sweden. With her entry Falling stars, Isac finished in second-to-last position in the first semi-final and did not qualify to the final.

Some of Lidia Isac’s songs have previously topped the national radio charts in Moldova. In fact, one of Lidia’s songs was written by the Grammy nominees Bridget Benenate, Niklas Pettersson and Mikael Albertsson.

Her Eurovision entry, Falling stars, reached number 13 in the Top 50 Viral Spain on Spotify following her participation.
