Ukraine: Jamala set to perform at Alfa Jazz Fest

Pop-jazz singer and winner of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, Jamala, is all set to perform at the upcoming Alfa Jazz Fest later this month.

Hosted in one of the current bidding cities for the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest, Lviv, the Alfa Jazz Fest is an annual jazz festival held in Ukraine every June, attracting over 40,000 visitors both from Ukraine and around the world every year.

Appearing at the event on the 28 June, Jamala will perform on the main stage at the festival, the first Ukrainian artist to do so since the festival was launched in 2011, where she will be joined by a jazz quartet, singing both a number of jazz-folk compositions as well as a number of songs from her newly released album, Breath.

Jamala’s performance, entitled The Soul of Jamala, will be available to watch via the music channel M1 with a special YouTube stream also planned on the day. Further details including ticket availability can be found via the official Alfa Jazz Fest website.

Last month, Jamala won the hearts of Europe when she competed at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest with her entry 1944. Qualifying from the second semi-final, Jamala went on to receive high points from both the public and jury, receiving a combined total of 534 points and becoming the highest scoring winner of the competition to date.
