Eurovision 2016: Cometogether in Stockholm’s neighbourhoods!

The City of Stockholm is all set to make the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest a memorable one. A series of events have been scheduled to be held in the city’s many neighbourhoods, thus bringing everyone #Cometogether under the same sky for Eurovision!

When Stockholm hosts the Eurovision Song Contest it will be evident throughout the city. Behind the vignette Eurovision – in your neighbourhood the City of Stockholm will arrange activities at different locations in the greater Stockholm area. The events include Swedish Fika, Eurovision-swimmin and samba soccer. The events will take place between 8-14 May.

Eurovision Song Contest is an event characterized by openness, acceptance and equality. We will be celebrating this throughout Stockholm and in its suburbs. In addition to the competition at the Globen Arena, the festivities at the Eurovision Village in Kungsträdgården and on Skeppsbron we will be organizing activities in Högdalen/Rågsved, Skärholmen, Husby/Kista, Vällingby and Farsta.

The event will kick-off with New Swedish Fika on Sunday 8 of May (15:00-17:00). The city will offer pastries from selected parts of the world in the following locations:

  • Farsta Gård, Farsta
  • Kista Träff, Kista
  • Nya Rågsveds Folkets Hus, Rågsved
  • Kulturhuset Stadsteatern, Skärholmen
  • Medborgarhuset Trappan, Vällingby

During the following week, ongoing local activities named Come together, which is also the tag-line for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, will take place. The activities are initiated and implemented by local organizers with the support of the City. The events include everything from face painting and quizzes to karaoke contests and concerts by local artists.

The festivities end on Saturday 14 May with a Eurovision-swimming with DJ:s  in Skärholmen, Vällingby and Farsta swimming pools and Samba soccer at selected locations in cooperation with local football clubs.

The events are organized by the City of Stockholm in the context of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2016.

The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 10, 12 and 14 May at the Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.
