Austria: ORF reveals the NF candidates

ORF, Austrian national broadcaster has revealed the names of the acts who will battle for the golden ticket to Stockholm, at the forthcoming 2016 Austrian Eurovision national final, Wer singt für Österreich?

A total of 10 acts will compete at the 2016 Austrian Eurovison national final. 9 acts have been scouted by a special team led by Eberhard Forcher and Stefan Zechner. Whilst the 10th act will be selected via a Facebook  public voting as the Wildcard entry.

ORF has revealed the names of the 9 lucky hopefuls:

  • Bella Wagner
  • Elly
  • Farina Miss & Céline Roscheck
  • Lia Weller
  • Lizza
  • Orry Jackson
  • Sankil Jones
  • Vincent Bueno
  • ZOË

ZOË already tried to represent Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest last year with her entry Quel filou, she came 2nd in the 2015 Austrian national final.

The 10 competing songs at the 2016 Austrian national final will be officially released by ORF on 21 January.

The Wildcard entry will be selected and revealed on 14 January via Facebook.  One of the following acts will join the 9 lucky hopefuls:

  • Ola Egbowon
  • AzRaH
  • Sara Koell
  • David Koell Siedl feat. Madelene & Mc Vio

The 2016 Austrian Eurovision national final- Wer singt für Österreich? is scheduled to be held on Friday 12 February at the ORF Studios in Vienna. The show will be aired live at 20:15 on ORF 1. Andi Knoll (ESC 2015- ORF commentator and tv host) and Alice Tumler (ESC 2015 host) will be hosting the show. The 2016 Austrian entry will selected via 50/50 televoting-jury deliberation.

In 2015 Austria hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna and selected its act and entry via a national selection. The Makemakes were awarded the honour of defending the national colours on home soil with their entry I am yours.

Austria debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1957 and has won the event twice in 1966 with Udo Jurgens and in 2014 with Conchita Wurst.

The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 10, 12 and 14 May at the Ericsson Globen Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.
