Andorra prepares for Eurovision 2009!

RTVA, the national broadcaster of the Principality of Andorra will be revealing the rules and regulations for their Eurovision 2009 national selection this weekend. The broadcaster will be participating at the Fira de Andorra La Vella, an annual fair held in Andorra, where they will be showcasing and promoting their forthcoming ventures and projects. This will include the 2009 Eurovision Andorran project and details of their plans.

RTVA will be inviting both composers and singers to enter the competition. Singers will be able to send demos with a maximum of 3 songs, and will be required to send in at least one song in Catalan. Whilst composers are invited to send in more than one song complying with the rules set by the Andorran television i.e. the song must not exceed 3 minutes in length and must not be neither released or commercialized before.

Singers and composers will be required to send in a presentation letter along with a CV with video or audio demos to RTVA, in order to compete at the Andorran Eurovision national final. The Andorran national broadcaster will be opening the subsmission of applications for the 2009 AndorrranEurovisionentry on Friday the 24th of October, with the deadline set on the 31st of December 2008.

An expert jury will be choosing the performer or performers along the 3 best songs to compete at the 2009 Andorran Eurovision national final. The decision will be entirely in the hands of the Andorran audience who will choose the song via SMS, that will represent them at the EurovisionSong Contest next May,in Moscow. Andorra has yet to reach the Eurovision Song Contest final, coming closest when they finished in 12th place in the 2007 semi final with Anonymous's Salvem el món entry. Earlier this year, Gisela finished in 16th place in the first semi final with Cassanova.
