The finalists for Finland’s Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2016 (UMK) will be announced on November 6.

YLE, the Finnish national broadcaster has revealed that the finalists will be revealed early next month during the country’s Nenäpäivä fundraiser at 19:00 EET.

The broadcaster is still yet to reveal how many acts will compete in the 2016 edition of UMK, or how many shows they’ll be.

They have, however, revealed that the public will once again decide who represents them at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the UMK16 final taking place in March.

Earlier this year, Pertti Kurikan Nimipaivat won Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu and represented Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna.

The band, despite being amongst the bookies favourites to win the contest, failed to reach the final after placing 16th in their semi-final.

Finland’s first and only win to date came nine years ago in 2006 when the rock group Lordi won with 292 points for their entry Hard rock hallelujah.
