ARMTV, the Armenian national broadcaster held a special press conference in Yerevan earlier today in order to officially present the 2015 Armenian Eurovision representatives Genealogy to the Armenian press and media.

Genealogy were selected via an internal selection by ARMTV in order to represent Armenia at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest. They will fly the Armenian flag in Vienna with their entry Face the shadow.

Genealogy – six artists of Armenian origin from five continents of the world and Armenia built a bridge with Armenian media representatives on April 27 at their first official press conference in Yerevan, Armenia.

The Armenian Eurovision hopefuls got a chance to speak to the press and share  their personal stories and experiences, and speak about their backgrounds (6 destinies but 1 story). They also got the chance to share their emotions and revealed some details about the creation of Genealogy and how they went through the selection process.

They shared the excitement about representing Armenia:

We just want to make all Armenians around the world proud.

Journalists, photographers, bloggers and media representatives greeted them with applause as they entered the room. They answered questions about their preparation process for the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest and highlighted some of their favorite entries. Genealogy member Tamar Kaprelian remembered Eurovision 1974 winner ABBA’s song Waterloo and performed a small part a cappella with the support of the other rest of the group.

During the press conference Genealogy commented on their tough rehearsal schedule and revealed some details regarding the stage performance:

It will be a beautiful show with a minimalistic approach and rich graphics on the stage along with Armenian elements. As there are six individual artists with unique personalities, backgrounds and voices, the choreography will highlight our identities and characters.

Answering the question about how well they get along as they have known each other for very short time, the Eurovision hopefuls replied:

From the first second of our meeting we were connected with the strong power of music. Our genetics and Armenian blood are the key factors that unite us not only as a music band, but also as a family. We are the Genealogy family.

To the question whether Genealogy will remain a Eurovision project or it will continue its activities once the Eurovision is over the artists smiled at each other with a brief comment:

Our connection is growing stronger with time.

The artists also commented on the meaning of song Face the Shadow and individually shared their understanding and the message of the song. At the end, the band performed a small part of Face the Shadow a cappella.
