About Lake Malawi
Albert Černý (lead vocal, guitar), Jeroným Šubrt (bass and keys) and Antonín Hrabal (drums) make up the Czech band Lake Malawi. With their name inspired by a Bon Iver song, the 2013-formed indie-pop band had dreamed of a career beyond the borders since the very beginning and that’s why they have released songs only in English. Following the release of their first singles, Lake Malawi were approached by the managers of The Kooks and Mika bands. Their first album Surrounded by light was unveiled in 2017.
Lake Malawi have performed in numerous concerts in Europe, while their music has been featured in Czech films and advertisements. The band’s leading vocalist Albert Černý has been honored with various awards for his work.
About the song Friend of a friend
Friend of a friend is the Czech entry to the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, announced as the winning song of the country’s national selection procedure Eurovision Song CZ. The result was determined by an international jury consisting of former Eurovision entrants, as well as both international and Czech voters.
