LIVE

The show has started.

The hostess of the show, Anne Igartiburu, welcomes the audience. Subsequently, she introduces the members of the jury, who will enjoy a 50/50 stake in the final outcome of the show.

Time for the opening act: a performance by the cast of the musical Chicago.

Eurovision TVE blogger, Mauro Canut, is speaking now about the Spanish procedure for this year's Eurovision Song Contest, the number of entries received, the amount of votes cast, etc. A video explaining the whole process is now being shown.

Phone lines are already open.

The 10 hopefuls competing for the Spanish ticket to Oslo are now being introduced with a video.

The co-host of the show, Ainhoa Arbizu, is now reporting from the backstage. Next to her are Venus, the first act to perform tonight.

1. Venus – Perfecta

Current poll result: 10.5% (2nd)

The first performance starts. The three girls look very sexy, dressed in a very Spanish way, with elegant hairdos and roses crowning their heads. Despite the beat of the song, their dancing routine seems not to be very lively. Moreover, their voices sound a bit weak and sometimes out of tune. They are one of the favourite acts to win tonight. Let's see what happens, but their draw does not help a lot.

2. Ainhoa Cantalapiedra – Volveré

Current poll result: 3% (6th)

Ainhoa is next up. She is dressed in a way that reminds of Moulin Rouge, and accompanied by two backing vocalists playing the harp and a cello. Ainhoa's vocals are quite strong tonight, hence it is not strange that she won Operación Triunfo back in 2003. The backing dancers take off Ainhoa's outfit to show a sexier, short black leather dress. The public welcomes Ainhoa's performance.

3. Fran Dieli – Cuando se trata de ti

Current poll result: 1.1% (8th)

Fran Dieli surprises the audience with a pirate outfit. Though, that jacket does not suit the rest of his costume. Fran is delivering a quite confident performance, with his vocals at a high level. His entry has not been among the top favourites over the past weeks, but given Fran's vocal skills, this could gain some last-minute votes.

4. Lorena – Amor mágico

Current poll result: 0.5% (10th)

Another fan-favourite (apparently not for our readers) is next to take the stage. Lorena is not a stranger to tv shows, as she proves to be an expert performer. Surely you have noted that the music track of Amor mágico has been revamped, now featuring an R&B base and more powerful instrumentation, as well as a gospel chorus. This is a wise move by Lorena and her production team, as this could bring her extra support from the public and the jury. Lorena looks stunning with that shiny, blue evening gown. Her performance is strong and suits this ballad perfectly. A serious contender Lorena is.

5. Samuel y Patricia – Recuérdame

Current poll result: 2% (7th)

The only mixed duo in the competition is now performing their entry. Samuel starts singing, all dressed in white, with very casual clothes. Patricia is wearing an elegant, white summery dress, looking very beautiful. The chemistry between the two young artists is evident, and that adds up to this beautiful ballad. The song, quite well performed, is sealed with a kiss. Lovely.

6. José Galisteo – Beautiful life

Current poll result: 8.2% (5th)

Beautiful life is the most disco-like and catchy song in tonight's national final. José looks very smart wearing a white shirt, black suit and black tie, as well as very confident on stage. The main problem here is José's vocals, seeming quite weak. We will have to wait to see if this song has appealed to the voters and the jury.

7. John Cobra – Carol

Current poll result: 0.7% (9th)

The most controversial act of the night is next up. Mario Vaquero aka John Cobra has been heavily promoted by a popular internet forum based in Spain during the online voting process. Carol is John's special present for his wife, who is acting as a backing peformer to her partner. This song is the only rap act tonight. And if you are wondering, that is not John Cobra's real voice – it is faked, since John is Mario Vaquero's alter-ego, as the performer has stated himself. But the voice is not quite important in this entry. Remarkable to say that John Cobra answers the public's booing with very nasty words and attitude.

8. Anabel Conde – Sin miedos

Current poll result: 9.5% (4th)

Let's ease the tension with Anabel Conde. Many fans will remember her from her performance back in Eurovision 1995, when she became the runner-up to Norway's Secret Garden. The melody of the song sounds elegant and romantic, with Anabel performing at a very high level. Like Lorena, Anabel has chosen a blue gown tonight. Her backing vocalists are the group L'Femme, who also competed at the preliminary stage of the Spanish selection, and whose vocal skills are quite remarkable. Everything in the performance contributes to give an outstanding overall impression. Anabel has proved it: she wants to win tonight, and will be hard to beat.

9. Daniel Diges – Algo pequeñito

Current poll result: 10.2% (3rd)

Daniel has become one of the sensations of this year's Spanish selection with the waltz Algo pequeñito. Surely he is one of the candidates to follow tonight. The stage elements, Daniel's appearance and the dancing routine recreate the atmosphere of a fairytale or a dream fantasy. Don't you think that Daniel reminds of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's The Little Price? His powerful vocal skills, moulded by many, many musical plays, will surely bring him one of the top placings tonight.

10. Coral Segovia – En una vida

Current poll result: 54.3% (1st)

Last, but not least, is Coral Segovia, the runner-up at the 2008 Spanish national final, and the top favourite tonight. Her entry En una vida has been widely praised by both fans and music experts. The tune features bagpipes, a traditional instrument in many parts of Northern Spain. It is plain to see that Coral feels very confident and confortable doing what she loves. The girl looks really beautiful in that outfit inspired in celtic elements. The public goes crazy as Coral sings the last notes of her song.

This concludes tonight's performances. Our poll will close in five minutes.

Rosa (Spanish representative in 2002) is now on stage performing one of her latest singles, Si tú no estás.

Our poll is now closed. The updated results are displayed above.

José Luis Uribarri, after giving a gold record to Rosa, has just announced that he will return to the Eurovision commentator booth for Spain in Oslo! He points out that, after Terry Wogan's retirement, he is becoming the most veteran active Eurovision commentator.

Next interval act is David Bustamante, Operación Triunfo 2nd runner-up in 2002 and backing vocalist to Rosa in Tallinn. He is now performing his latest single, Abrázame muy fuerte.

Sergio Dalma, 1991 Spanish representative, is now on stage performing Mientras tanto. Before leaving the scene, he sings the refrain of his Eurovision entry, Bailar pegados, chorused by the public.

Lines are already closed! The results will be disclosed in some minutes.
